Fue creadora de un falsete peculiar, llamado &#8220;falsete ranchero&#8221;que adoptaron otras cantantes folcl\u00f3ricas. Cantaba desde los 7 a\u00f1os de edad, pero su consagraci\u00f3n se dio al iniciar los a\u00f1os cuarenta. Particip\u00f3 en una docena de pel\u00edculas y grab\u00f3 muchos discos, todos excelentes y con magn\u00edficas ventas.
