Sin embargo, el Dr. Iv\u00e1n Torre Villalvazo, investigador del Instituto Nacional de Ciencias M\u00e9dicas y Nutrici\u00f3n Salvador Zubir\u00e1n , ha se\u00f1alado que el IMC presenta limitaciones significativas. Una de las principales cr\u00edticas es que no distingue entre masa muscular y grasa corporal, lo que puede llevar a clasificaciones inexactas del estado nutricional de un individuo.<br \/>En sus investigaciones, el Dr. Torre Villalvazo ha enfatizado la importancia de considerar la distribuci\u00f3n de la grasa corporal y otros indicadores metab\u00f3licos para una evaluaci\u00f3n m\u00e1s precisa de la obesidad y sus riesgos asociados.
